The Gear
The ever-evolving list of stuff I like and use
Travel tech
It's getting difficult to not forget anything these days so I made the decision to have permanent travel kits.
They are split between multiple sets:
Small tech case
Anker international charger (2x USB-A, 1x USB-c with GaN tech, so pretty light, 65W, comes with types A, C, G plugs)
Cables suiting my needs (3x USB-C to USB-C in various lengths, Essager 4-in1 adapter kit, 1x Apple watch USB-C generic charger)
Uni USB-C to USB-A adapters, because you never know if you're going to need one. Those are pretty cool because they match the MacBook's Space Gray and they are braided, so they should last a while
and all this fits into a Thule Subterra medium case, which I particularly like because you can fish a charging cable out without opening it
Big tech case
A big(ger) Anker charger (2x USB-A, 2x USB-C, 100W) - a little heavy but it can charge two laptops
Another set of same cables as above in varying quantities depending on needs
Thumb drive, just in case I need to print something or update a rental car firmware (yes I've done that)
USB data blocker in case I want to charge from a potentially dirty USB port
Uni Ethernet adapter (works for Macs, PCs, iPad Pro)
Uni HDMI adapter and HDMI cable
Travel router, in case I need to extend range or share internet access while on the road
Small multi-screwdriver (TSA friendly), Leatherman Style PS (TSA friendly)
All this fits into an organizer pouch, there are many options, though
Extended Work From Home kit
A monitor (if you can lug one, do it!)
A wireless keyboard (I like the Magic Keyboard, but the Logitech K380 isn't bad either)
A mouse, either the MX Anywhere 3, or for bigger hands the Logitech M720. Both support up to 3 devices paired simultaneously
A/V pouch
Bluetooth transmitter/receiver, magical stuff, allows you to use bluetooth headphones with any audio source, or stream bluetooth audio to any destination
3.5mm jack to jack cable, 3.5mm jack to RCA cable
Required adapters if your devices don't have HDMI ports (works for MacBook Pro and iPad Pro)
Car stuff
Car charger, but nowadays most cars have built-in USB
Car vent mount, in case rental cars don't have CarPlay/Android Auto
